If you drive: It's easliy done in 12 hours door to door from the UK. However if you'd prefer to take things a little more leisurely and stop off on route, one option is to drive through the tunnel early evening and stay near  Calais before doing the rest of the journey the next day. We can highly recommend staying at the Ferme du Vert in Boulogne Sur Mer or Le Vendangeoir in Laon. If you plan on going through the tunnel in the morning and getting the majority of the drive done on the first day, then you'll probably be looking to stop near Dijon. L'Aquarelle en Champagne near Troyes comes highly recommended; as does La Cour Berbisey in Dijon; and La Terre D'Or in Beaune.

*Please note that winter tyres and a set of snow chains are mandatory in the French Alps November - April.

If you're coming by train: A quick route is to get the Brussels route of the Eurostar and get out at Lille; you then just need to switch platforms and take the daily TVR down to Lyon. Otherwise there is a daily service which runs from Paris to both Albertville and Moutiers, though you will have to switch stations in Paris, from the Eurostar one to the TVR one. The weekly snowtrain runs from London to Moutiers during peak season in the Winter. All stations have car hire options.
