A rustic chalet in the French Alps

Beaufort:
Beaufort, is marginally larger than Arêches, is positioned down the mountain and is linked via a daily bus service. Its baroque origins are still evident down its tiny side streets and alleyways.
There is an impressive church and a cafe and patisserie. The Doron river runs through it and in the summer months, the bridges are festooned with flowers. Like Arêches there is a supermarket, boulangerie, a bank and further cash point. There is a weekly market on a Wednesday and a monthly flea market in the centre of the town during the summer.
The cooperative that makes the famous Beaufort cheese is integral to the town and offers daily tours of the production process which is well worth a visit. There is also a swimming pool, tennis courts and leisure park which is open in the summer months and various weekends during the year.
We haven't tried all of the restaurants in the area but here are a couple of our favorites.
